Hishida travels the world — crafting carpentry art in Japan, building homes in Belgium, and leading master craftsmen at the Kezuroukai planing gathering in Sweden. Crossing oceans to connect with fellow makers, and crossing centuries to learn from the architecture that has endured, he continues to elevate the value of handcraft and of something deeper still: the act of imagining another person, and creating with your hands for them. To face the wood. To face the people. This is his ongoing challenge — to redefine what it means to live as a carpenter, and to open a new future for craftsmen the world over.
