Beauty may not be something we create, but rather something that emerges naturally.
Just as a
tree that isn't perfectly straight can still possess a compelling presence. Just as earth with its
irregularities can become a source of rich character. We regard nature not merely as material, but
as our teacher of beauty.
Japanese aesthetics and the spirit of handcraft. Belgian sensibility and perspective on living. Our
craftsmanship exists where these two cultures resonate with one another.
Not over-designed. Yet
meticulously crafted down to the finest detail. This is why breathing becomes easier, and the
natural essence of those who dwell within emerges.
To give form to such living, we dedicate
ourselves completely, day after day.
Process
HISHIDA pursues unique beauty. We are developing a process and approach to home building that is unparalleled.

Hewing
The masakari and chōna — broadaxe and adze — leave their mark across the grain, giving each surface a natural, uneven rhythm no machine can replicate. For HISHIDA, this gesture is not ornamental. It is a way of giving wood the capacity to age alongside those who live with it, growing richer with every passing season.
-
Scribing and Joinery
Each cut mark carries a decision — where this timber belongs, how it meets its neighbors, what role it will play in the whole. For HISHIDA, the act of marking is not technical notation. It is the moment a craftsman takes responsibility for a single tree's fate, and chooses how its life will be held within the walls of a home.
-
Wall With Scraped Finish
Mortar and plaster are cut back by hand, exposing a rough grain and natural shadow that no applied finish can imitate. For HISHIDA, this is more than technique. It is a return to the raw mid-coat clay that once lay unseen beneath the lime walls of dozō storehouses — brought back into view, and given its rightful place as the texture of a lived-in home.
